House Energy Rating Competition - Energy and Water Efficiency Requirements
Competition information - links to other pages: Task & Entry form (pdf) | Competition Tasks | The Judges | Building links | Gardening links | News

Environmental regulations for all new homes vary between states and territories within Australia. Be sure to address your team's work to your state or territory's requirements.

The Building Code of Australia (BCA) is the minimum energy efficiency standard accepted for all new houses in Australia. Each state or territory can stipulate additional standards.

Eight climate zones across Australia ranging from hottest to coldest do cause the standards to change to suit various weather patterns. BCA and respective state or territory have set the following star ratings for Australia.

State/Territory

Energy Efficiency

Water Efficiency
